Never run your blade dry on your saw. It will ruin a lapidary blade in short order. That being said here are the coolant amounts required for our different saws:
Model 6 - Less than 1 quart so that that blade is covered ¼ inch
HighTone 10 - Approximately 1-⅓ gallon so that the blade is covered ¼ to ⅜ inch
HighTone 12 - Approximately 2 gallons so that the blade is covered ¼ to ⅜ inch
HighTone 14 - Approximately 2-¼ gallons so that the blade is covered ⅜ to ½ inch
HighTone 14 Drop Saw - Approximately 2-½ gallons (NOTE: This saw requires a pump to circulate oil-based coolants)
Model 12 - Approximately 2 gallons so that the blade is covered ¼ to ⅜ inch
Model 16 - Approximately 5 gallons so that the blade is covered ⅜ to ½ inch
Model 18 - Approximately 7 gallons so that the blade is covered ⅜ to ½ inch
Model 24 - Approximately 13 gallons so that the blade is covered ¾ to ⅝ inch
Model 36 - Approximately X gallons so that the blade is covered ¾ to 1 inch
Model 36D Drop Saw - Approximately 5 gallons (NOTE: This saw requires a pump to circulate oil-based coolants)
